What the Free plan includes
The Free plan is a complete booking setup for one person. It runs on the same booking engine as the paid plans, so you are not testing a demo that behaves differently later.
- Your own booking page with a short link and a QR code for the front desk or your business cards.
- Services with their own duration and price, plus optional buffer time before and after each one.
- Working hours, breaks, holidays and time off, so clients only ever see times you are actually open.
- Time zones handled for you. Your page runs in your business time zone and shows visitors their own local time when it differs.
- No double bookings. The database accepts only one booking per staff member and time range, even when two clients press book at the same moment.
- Email confirmations with a calendar file, plus email reminders 24 hours and 2 hours before each visit.
- Reschedule and cancel links in every email, with no client login, up to the notice period you set.
- A calendar dashboard with day and week views, where you can also add walk-ins and phone bookings by hand.
If you want to see the page your clients would use, the booking page overview walks through each screen.
The limits, in plain words
A free plan needs limits, and you should know them before you rely on it. These are all of them:
- 100 online bookings per calendar month. The count covers bookings clients make on your page and resets on the 1st of each month. Bookings you add yourself in the dashboard do not use it up.
- One bookable staff member. Free and Pro both cover one person. A team needs Studio.
- Fixed reminder times. Reminders go out 24 hours and 2 hours before. Changing the timing or the wording is a Pro feature.
- A "Powered by Uply Meet" badge on your booking page.
- One location. Several locations in one account are planned Coming soon.
What happens when you reach 100 in a month: your page says that online booking is full for the month and shows how to contact your business instead. Nothing else stops. Existing bookings stay in place, reminders still go out, clients can still use their change links, and you can still add bookings by hand. On the 1st, online booking opens again automatically.
Is 100 enough? 100 online bookings is about 4 to 5 a day over a month of working days. For many solo therapists, barbers and artists who also book regulars by hand, that covers a normal month. If you regularly go over, Pro removes the limit.
Why there is a free plan at all
A fair question. Uply Meet makes money from the Pro and Studio plans. The Free plan lets a solo professional run a real booking page for as long as it fits, and many of them will grow into a paid plan when they want no monthly limit, editable reminders, client notes or a team calendar.
What we do not do: there is no commission on your bookings, no marketplace that lists you next to competitors, and no fee per booking. Your clients come from your own link, and they stay your clients. Solo owners on forums are open about being tired of fee creep; one solo esthetician described platforms nickel and diming us
with new fees (r/Esthetics thread). A flat, published price is our answer to that.
Solo work is common in these trades. The US Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that 80% of barbers are self-employed (BLS Occupational Outlook Handbook). The Free plan is shaped for exactly that kind of one-chair, one-room business.
Free scheduling apps compared
Several booking tools offer a $0 plan, and they differ most in two places: whether reminders are included, and how the free plan earns its keep. This is what each company publishes on its own pricing page (checked October 25, 2026):
| Product | Free plan | Reminders on the free plan | Worth knowing |
|---|---|---|---|
| Uply Meet | $0: 1 staff, 1 booking page, 100 online bookings a month | Email, 24 hours and 2 hours before | "Powered by Uply Meet" badge; no fee per booking |
| Calendly | $0: one event type, one-on-one scheduling | No automated reminders (from Standard, $12 per seat) | Designed around meetings |
| Setmore | $0: up to 4 users | Email reminders included; text reminders only on Pro | Setmore branding cannot be removed on Free |
| Square Appointments | $0 per location, unlimited staff calendars | Appointment reminders listed on Free | Card processing fees, for example 2.6% + 15¢ in person |
| SimplyBook.me | $0: 50 bookings a month, 1 provider | Basic email reminders | Free plan needs to be renewed monthly |
| Koalendar | $0, best for personal use | No email reminders (Pro adds 1 per booking) | Pro $9 per seat a month on annual billing |
| TidyCal | $0 | Check the pricing page | 1% platform fee on paid bookings on Free |
No free plan on the official pricing pages (checked October 25, 2026): Acuity Scheduling (7-day trial), Fresha (7-day trial), Booksy (14-day trial) and Vagaro (30-day trial). Prices and plans change; check the linked page before deciding.
Honest reading of the table: Uply Meet is not the only free plan with reminders. Setmore and Square Free include them too, and Square Free has no booking cap. Uply Meet's free plan is built for one person who wants reminders twice per booking, a hard guarantee against double booking and no fees on top, in a page made for spas, barbers and studios.
When it makes sense to upgrade
Stay on Free as long as it fits. These are the usual reasons people move up:
- You pass 100 online bookings in a month. Pro ($12 a month, or $9 a month billed yearly) has no monthly limit for one staff member.
- You want reminders your way. Pro lets you set when reminders go out and edit what they say.
- You want a client history. Pro keeps notes on each client and a list of their past visits.
- You want your page without the badge. Pro removes "Powered by Uply Meet".
- You hire. Studio ($20 a month for 2 staff plus $8 for each extra, or $15 plus $6 billed yearly) gives every person a bookable calendar.
You can try Pro or Studio free for 7 days from your dashboard, with no card. If you do nothing, the account goes back to Free when the trial ends, and nothing is deleted. To keep a paid plan, you request an invoice by email from your dashboard and we switch the plan on once it is paid. Full details are on the pricing page.
Who the Free plan fits best
- Solo massage therapists who book 60 and 90 minute sessions with a buffer to reset the room.
- Barbers renting a chair who want clients to stop messaging "you free at 5?".
- Nail technicians and lash artists whose services vary in length, from a quick fill to a full set.
- Tattoo artists who take short consults online and keep long sessions under control.
- Anyone starting out who wants a real booking page before paying for software.
If you already know you need several staff calendars from day one, start a Studio trial instead. Our scheduling software page explains how team calendars work.
How to start on the Free plan
Uply Meet is in early access, so sign-up works with a one-time invite code. Send us a message on WhatsApp (the sign-up page has a button that opens it with a short greeting filled in) and we reply with your code. Then create your account with email and a password, confirm the 6-digit code we email you, add your services and hours, and share your link. There is nothing to install for you or your clients.
Deposits at booking are planned for a later release Coming soon, and so is two-way Google Calendar sync Coming soon. Neither is needed to start taking bookings today.
