What a booking page does for an appointment business

Most spas, barbershops and studios still take bookings in three places at once: phone calls, direct messages and a paper or spreadsheet diary. Every booking costs a short conversation (what are you looking for, when are you free, does 3 pm work, can you do 4 instead), and every conversation is a chance for two clients to end up in the same chair.

An online booking page replaces that back and forth with one page that already knows the answers. It lists what you offer, how long each service takes and what it costs, and it only shows times that are really free. The client picks a slot, types a name and email, and the booking lands in your calendar with no reply needed from you. Clients can book at 11 pm on a Sunday while you sleep, and you see the booking the next morning.

Because it is a normal web page with a link, clients do not need to download an app or create an account. That matters: owners say it plainly on forums. One barber put it as I don't want people to have to download an app just to book with me (r/Barber thread), and a solo esthetician wrote that a client account requirement was a huge no for most of her clientele (r/Esthetics thread). These are forum posts, not Uply Meet customers, but they describe exactly the friction a link-based page removes.

What your clients see on your Uply Meet booking page

Your page lives at a short address on uplymeet.com that you can share anywhere. When a client opens it, they move through the same few choices every time, on a phone or a computer:

  • Service. Your list of services, each with its own duration and the price you set. Inactive services are hidden.
  • Staff member. On team plans, clients choose a specific person or pick "any available" and see every time when someone on the team is free.
  • Date and time. A calendar with only the days you work, then the open start times for that day. Times are shown in your business time zone, and when the visitor is somewhere else the page also shows the time in their own zone.
  • Details. Name and email are required. Phone number and a short note are optional, so you only collect what a booking needs.
  • Your policy. The client agrees to your booking policy before confirming, and a short notice asks them not to type health information into the note field.
  • Confirmation. A confirmation screen right away, followed by a confirmation email with a calendar file attached.

Prices are shown for information only. Uply Meet does not take card payments at the moment, so clients pay you in person the way they do today. Deposits at booking are planned Coming soon.

What you set up behind the page

The page is only as good as the rules behind it, so the setup is where you spend your ten minutes. Everything below is set once in your dashboard and applied to every booking from then on.

  • Services. Name, description, duration in 5 minute steps, display price and currency, and optional buffer time before and after. A 60 minute massage with a 15 minute buffer blocks 75 minutes, so you always have time to reset the room.
  • Working hours. One or more time ranges per weekday for each staff member, so a split shift such as 10:00 to 14:00 and 16:00 to 20:00 is easy. Breaks are separate, so lunch never shows up as a free slot.
  • Holidays and time off. Close the whole business for a public holiday or block days for one person. Those days simply disappear from the page.
  • Minimum notice. How close to the start a client may still book. The default is 2 hours, so nobody books a slot that starts in ten minutes.
  • Booking window. How far ahead clients may book. The default is 60 days.
  • Cancellation notice. Until when clients may reschedule or cancel on their own. The default is 24 hours before the start.

If you want the full picture of how these rules turn into open times, our guide to scheduling software walks through the calculation.

A booking link works anywhere you can paste a link or show a picture. The places that tend to matter most for appointment businesses:

  • Your Instagram or TikTok bio. People who find your work there can book in the same minute, instead of sending a message that waits for a reply.
  • WhatsApp and direct messages. When someone asks "do you have anything Friday?", send the link. They see every open time on Friday at once.
  • Your website and email signature. Add a "Book now" button that points to your page. Placing the full booking flow inside your own website is planned Coming soon.
  • In the shop. Your dashboard creates a QR code for your page. Print it at the front desk, on the mirror or on a business card, so clients can book their next visit before they leave.

Each business gets one page today. If you run more than one branch, a separate page per location is on the plan Coming soon.

Why your booking page never double books

Double bookings usually happen when two people look at the same free slot and both press book. Many tools check availability first and save the booking a moment later, which leaves a gap where both requests can pass the check. A salon owner on Reddit described moving away from a scheduling tool after one too many scheduling disasters (double bookings, frustrated clients, etc.) (r/smallbusiness thread).

Uply Meet closes that gap inside the database. Every booking is stored with the time range it blocks (including buffers), and a PostgreSQL exclusion constraint refuses any new range that overlaps an active booking for the same staff member. The PostgreSQL documentation describes this guarantee: if any two rows are compared on the constrained columns, at least one comparison must fail (PostgreSQL docs, exclusion constraints), and the same docs show the non-overlapping time range pattern for reservations (range types).

In practice: if two clients press book for the same staff member at the same second, exactly one booking is saved. The other client sees a friendly message that the time was just taken, together with the nearest open times, so they can pick again without starting over. Our automated tests fire 20 simultaneous requests at one slot and expect exactly one booking.

What happens after a client books

A booking is not finished when the client presses confirm. Uply Meet handles the follow-up so you do not have to:

  • Confirmation email with the service, staff member, date and time, plus an .ics calendar file. The .ics format is the iCalendar standard (RFC 5545), so the visit can be added to most calendar apps with one tap.
  • Two reminders by email, 24 hours and 2 hours before the start. Read more about each appointment reminder and what it contains.
  • A private change link in every email. Clients reschedule or cancel without logging in, up to the notice period you set. The freed slot opens again for someone else.
  • An alert for you each time someone books, moves or cancels, and the booking appears in your calendar dashboard.

Reminders go by email only. Uply Meet does not send text messages at the moment, and we would rather say that clearly than promise a channel that does not exist.

A booking page of your own vs a marketplace listing

Booking marketplaces such as Booksy and Fresha also give you a booking page, inside a consumer app where new clients can discover you. That discovery can be worth paying for, but it comes with fees on new clients. A booking page of your own costs a flat plan price and sends you only the clients you bring yourself. Here is how the published prices compare (checked October 25, 2026, official pricing pages linked):

How to get your booking page live

Setting up takes about as long as a coffee. Uply Meet is in early access, so the first move is an invite.

  • Request an invite. Send us a message on WhatsApp (the sign-up page has the button). We reply with a one-time invite code.
  • Create your account. Sign up with email and a password, confirm the 6-digit code we email you, and name your business.
  • Add services and hours. Enter your services with their length and price, then your weekly hours, breaks and any days off.
  • Share the link. Copy your booking link or download the QR code, and put it where your clients already look.

Not sure which plan fits? The Free plan covers one staff member and 100 online bookings a month, and our free scheduling app page explains its limits in plain words. When you are ready to compare the paid plans, see pricing.
